The human immunodeficiency virus HIV envelope glycoprotein gp160 is synthesized as an
inactive precursor, which is processed into its fusiogenic form gp120/gp41 by host cell
proteinases during its intracellular trafficking. Kexin/subtilisin-related endoproteases have
